ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Shoreline is a fundraising exhibition and all the paintings
have been generously donated by Scottish and English artists, in a variety of media, painted to a common theme.
All paintings will be 6" x 6" and framed. Each piece will be
signed on the back by the artist and
sold for £150. Buyers
will be unaware of the artist’s identity until the purchase has been completed and the work collected or dispatched at the
end of the exhibition.
Work will be sold on a 'first come, first served' basis. Paintings can be purchased from 1pm on 1 June, by calling at the gallery or by telephone - 01879 220510
THE PROJECT
All proceeds from the exhibition will be given to support the following island project.
There is a need on the island for additional community
facilities for pre-school and youth groups as well as support
for young families and the elderly within the community.
The Baptist Church on Tiree, established in 1838, has a
growing and active congregation from a wide range of church backgrounds… and two very dilapidated church buildings which are in desperate need of refurbishment.
The intention is to sell one of the buildings and to raise funds to re-furbish and extend the other, to provide a modern church with extensive community facilities in a more central location. This new building will serve a wide cross section of the island and visitor population, including many who do not currently attend church.
An architect has been appointed and building work will start
in the autumn of this year - completion should be in the summer of 2010. The cost of the project is expected to be in
the region of £380,000.
The church we are supporting is a registered charity - SC022177 - and progress of this building project can be followed on the Tiree Baptist Church website
